A tiny clay fragment – dating from the 14th century B.C.E. – that was found in excavations outside Jerusalem’s Old City walls contains the oldest written document ever found in Jerusalem, say researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

52,000 Roman coins discovered in England
A massive hoard of over 52 000 coins dating back to the third century AD have been discovered in a field near Frome in the English country of Somerset.
Late Antiquity Synagogue discovered in Galilee
Archaeologists working on the Kinneret Regional Project in Galilee have discovered an ancient synagogue, in use at around 400 CE. Combined with recent finds of other ancient religious sites in the area, this discovery adds new evidence for a very tight net of synagogues in a relatively small area on the northwestern shores of the Lake of Galilee.
Archaeologists discover ancient tunnel in Egypt
Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Farouk Hosni, announced that a tunnel in the tomb of King Seti I (1314-1304 BC) has been discovered by Dr. Zahi Hawass and his team in the Valley of the Kings. They’ve been searching for this tunnel for over twenty years in a necropolis near the city of Luxor.
3200-year-old linchpin of battle chariot discovered
A 3,200-year-old round bronze tablet with a carved face of a woman, found at the El-ahwat excavation site near Katzir in central Israel, is part of a linchpin that held the wheel of a battle chariot in place.
Sticky Rice used in Ancient Chinese construction
Scientists have discovered the secret behind an ancient Chinese super-strong mortar made from sticky rice, the delicious “sweet rice” that is a modern mainstay in Asian dishes. They also concluded that the mortar ― a paste used to bind and fill gaps between bricks, stone blocks and other construction materials ― remains the best available material for restoring ancient buildings.
