Ancient seal found in Israel may be first depiction of Biblical character Samson

A tiny seal, measuring 1.5 centimeters in diameter, has been discovered by a team of archeologists from Tel Aviv Univerisity. The small carved stone and measuring was found during excavations of Tel Beit Shemesh, which lies west of Jerusalem. The seal depicts a human figure next to a large animal and could be evidence of the Biblical story of Samson fighting a lion.

Samson’s story is mentioned in the book of Judges, which estimated by researchers to be set in the 11th century BCE
